Last Weekend

On Friday night we went to our ward campout (didn't stay overnight, of course) where Abram had his first s'more.

He took one bite & decided he had had enough!  I don't think he liked the stickiness.

Saturday we met our friends from MN, the Zirkle's, in San Fran.  They just moved here to Cali!

Abram and Claire had fun together!
We met at Golden Gate National park where the kids played on the playground with the dads while Rachel & I fed our babies in the shade, had lunch, and then we all walked around the botanical gardens.

It was so fun to see them again!  Ben's phone has the whole group picture....maybe I can post it later.

Joyful Music

I had such a joyful moment yesterday.  I was sitting at the piano playing primary songs while little Aila noisily sucked on her fist in her swing while Abram raced in circles around the swing, simultaneously shouting out the primary song lyrics.  You could say it was a dream come true!
Last fall I don't think I could play even one primary song, but I was extended the call to be the primary pianist in our ward.  I actually didn't even accept at first ("Did you know I don't even play the piano?") but asked if I could think about it for a few days, but I quickly knew I needed to accept.  I had to practice a TON at first, but now the songs come a lot easier.  Being able to play the primary songs is something I've always wanted to be able to do and I'm so grateful I've been given this opportunity!
Music is so powerful and has always been an important part of my life.  Being a part of my church ward here has given me many musical opportunities in the last year--a few of which I never dreamed (or wished) I'd be a part of but somehow got roped into: playing flute in church (once when I was about 7 months pregnant and felt like passing out after, haha)/at a baptism/at the mission home, playing piano in Primary/Sacrament Meeting/for the Christmas program & party/at baptisms, and even singing--in a trio (a capella, haha) in church and at a relief society event (including a solo part, even more funny)/in the ward choir, plus I was blessed to be able to be a part of the interfaith Lamb of God performances in Oakland & San Francisco.  I'm not saying it's all been pretty or I've been super willing to do them all, but I'm really grateful I've been able to be a part of so many wonderful things that have helped me learn and grow immensely.  I feel so much more whole when I have music in my life.

June (So Far)

While we were in UT, we blessed Aila at my family's home.  It was great to have our families there!

Wades

Kujanpaas (how did I end up with no pictures of my brothers??)

My grandparents were even in town for two high school graduations and were able to be there!

(Back in CA) Sometimes we are all in our jammies for half the day...

He's looking too grown up!  (I have the hardest time getting him to smile for the camera--he is a very happy boy though!)

Growing up too fast!

Father's Day...I made philly cheesesteak sandwiches for dinner.  It was the first time I ever bought steak!  They were yummy.
The Sat before Father's Day we went to Napa to celebrate with my extended family...and Aila got to meet Alexis for the first time (my uncle's baby--she's about 7 weeks older than Aila!)

Getting bigger...she weighed 10 lbs 1 oz a few days ago (she's 6 weeks today!)

Fresh & clean!

I caught half of her smile...she's been smiling and starting to coo the last week or so!

A Saturday at the beach

Fingerpainting

More May Pictures

In labor, making sure Aila's heart rate looked good...just like any old L&D nurse would do :)
I have a baby girl!

So happy

Sibling love

We tried to keep Abram from destroying the hospital room...

A cute sign Ben & Abram made for us (they also picked out flowers & roses for me)

A visit from Great Gma & Gpa Eide!  They brought us dinner plus more food for our freezer...we're so lucky to live close by!

Grandma Lorna (my mom) flew in on Mother's Day!

Making cookies with Grandma

First real bath!  (Her cord fell off when she was 5 days old)

We love our swing

Abram loves when both he and Ben wear their hats

Bike ride with Daddy

We flew to UT on the day Aila turned 3 weeks old for Ben's sister's wedding.  She was a gorgeous bride!
(Kenzie (Abram's cousin), Kate, & Abram)
Ben's brother's baby, Aria, is only 2 months older than Aila!
(Me & Aila, Karen (Ben's mom), & Aria)

Smelling the flowers :)

Ben's dad did a great job marrying them

"Cake is yummy!!"

I was exhausted the whole trip, but we were so glad we were able to be there.
(disregard the bloodshot eyes...we flew in late the night before)

Congratulations, Chris & Kate!
